Filming your workout form: which angle?
By Con, founder of Music Wide Selfie · Updated 22 October 2026
Short answerSide-on at hip height shows most lifts best (squats, deadlifts, push-ups). Front-on shows knee and hip alignment. Film a few reps from each angle rather than one long set.
- Keep your whole body and the weight in the frame.
- Use slow motion to review fast movements.
- Ask the gym before filming, and keep other people out of shot.
This is about seeing your movement, not medical advice. A qualified coach can check technique properly.
