How to film fitness progress you can actually compare
By Con, founder of Music Wide Selfie · Updated 22 October 2026
Short answerUse the same place, light, distance, phone height and clothes each time. Mark the floor where you and the phone go, and film at the same time of day.
Why consistency matters
Different light and angles change how you look more than weeks of training. Same setup means a fair comparison.
The checklist
- Mark the phone spot and your spot with tape.
- Same height: measure it once.
- Same time of day and light.
- Same clothing.
- Front, side and back each time.
Line it up
Overlaying your last photo while framing the new one helps. Match a Shot, in Premium and Crown, is designed for exactly that.
Questions
How often?
Every two to four weeks is usually enough to see change.
