Filming your runs and rides safely

Short answerUse proper mounts, never hold or touch the phone while riding or running in traffic, set recording before you start, and stop somewhere safe to film talking clips.

Safety first

  • Don’t handle your phone while cycling or running near traffic.
  • Use a secure mount rated for bikes.
  • Follow local road rules about phones and mounts.

Getting good clips

  • Set up and press record before you move.
  • Stop in a safe place for talking-to-camera bits.
  • Prop the phone and run past it for passing shots.

Phone care

Sweat, rain and vibration are hard on phones. Use a case and avoid long exposure to heavy vibration.

Questions

Can vibration damage the camera?

Apple notes that high-amplitude vibration, such as from some motorcycle engines, can affect iPhone camera stabilisation. Use a vibration-dampening mount.
