How to film a fitness class you teach
By Con, founder of Music Wide Selfie · Updated 22 October 2026
Short answerGet clear consent from everyone in frame (or film only yourself), place the phone where it sees you and the space, use a clip-on mic for your cues, and film a few highlights rather than the whole class.
Consent first
Tell the class before you film, offer a camera-free zone, and blur or crop anyone who doesn’t want to appear.
Angles
- Front-on from the back of the room shows you leading.
- A low side angle shows movement quality.
- A second phone for wide shots, if you have one.
Sound
A clip-on or wireless mic makes your cues audible over music.
Questions
Can I film members for marketing?
Only with their clear permission. Check your venue’s policy too.
